society6

Hi Guys!

I've been saying for a while now that I had new things in the works but I have been slow to show them. Over the past few months I've been researching to find new ways to produce the things I'm making, not limiting myself to just letterpress or web. After much consideration, I've decided to reveal some new lettering through society6.com. If you don't know, Society6 is a website where artists can upload their art and turn it into products that are then sold on their website. It's so coooool to see what my designs look like on totes and iphone cases!

Along with the products on society6, I'll soon have products to sell on this site as well. I'll be making buttons and stickers featuring these 3 designs plus a few more so make sure to check back soon for that :).

Thanks everyone!

Carrie

American Made

Exciting News!

I am a Martha Stewart American Made nominee! It's so cool to be a part of this and to see all the other awesome and inspiring people who are also nominated. So, how it works is: between now and Sept 8th the judges will select finalists from each category out of the nominees. Then, from Sept 15-Oct 13th, you can vote for your favorite finalist and on Oct 17 they name the winner (who wins 10K and a chance to appear on Martha Stewart's website/XM radio station/magazine, etc.)

I NEED YOUR HELP: You can boost your chances to be a finalist by social media shares and let me tell you, there is some stiff competition. I need all the help I can get.

Martha Stewart - American Made 2014 - Nominee Badge

So, please, help a girl out and share/like/retweet/smoke signal/carrier pigeon/whatever so I can be friends with Martha Stewart and learn all of her secrets and take over the world. Or something like that.

Thanks for your help, Internet / IRL friends! You all rule!

Personal Projects

I've been pretty busy with letterpress and design jobs this spring and haven't had much time to work on personal projects (no complaints!). So, since I've had a little bit more free time this summer I decided to tackle something long overdue, my own business cards.

I didn't notice while mixing ink that I matched it to my nail polish so I obviously my hand had to make a cameo in this photo shoot.

Business Cards

Last weekend I got to print some business cards for some really cool ladies:

The Fox Knows is an Etsy shop selling vintage fabrics and sewing supplies and it's owned by my friend Marina. She wanted her business cards to also have the option to be used as hang tags on her fabrics. This gave us a little more freedom to have fun with the shape of the cards. I designed the logo in the winter and I'm so happy to finally see them in card form.

In my last blog post I talked about my friend Emily's shop Bon Fire Craft. This past weekend I got to print her business cards and they came out awesome. I love the speckle tone paper she chose and the gold frame on the outside gives it a little something extra. If you didn't visit her online shop before, you're missing out on some gorgeous jewelry.

I love designing and printing business cards so if you're interested in getting some cards made that are a little bit more special than your average online-template style cards, contact me through the site!

I've got some really cool things in the works, so stay tuned :)

Bon Fire Craft

Worked on this logo for my friend Emily (formerly of Torch Song Metals), who is a metalsmith and jewelry designer (and baker, and gardener, and wife... seriously, she does it all) who recently relocated from Nyack to Buffalo, NY. Her new shop is called Bon Fire Craft and she does such beautiful work so check her out.

Mimi and the Wolves

A couple of months ago, one of my best friends (the very talented and very adorable Alabaster) asked me to help her design the lettering for the title of the newest installation of her comic series: Mimi and the Wolves. I am not only friends with her but a big fan of her work so I was very excited to get the opportunity to help. I love how it came out and how good it looks with the gorgeous cover she illustrated.

Check out her website for Mimi and other comics she's done as well as prints, buttons and jewelry (this chick does it all).

Social Media

Hello wonderful people who read this!

If you absolutely just can't get enough of my updates and you're looking for more ways to follow me (just please don't follow me in person, that's really scary and I will notify the proper authorities), look no further! Here are links to all the ways you can cyber stalk me (but, again, don't get crazy. I'm not trying to have a Swimfan type of situation on my hands).

Mother's Day

This year I had the honor of designing and printing a limited run of custom Mother's Day cards for Hanky Panky. They were also nice enough to write a pretty sweet blog post about the me and the printing process so please check that out.

These cards are available as a free gift with purchase when you buy anything on hankypanky.com so go buy your mom something nice!
